Three Critical Considerations When Designing Your Next Carton.

This means that we create a layout which is easy to assemble, find a grade which fulfils your requirements and a design which is eye-catching and distinctive, adding value to your company’s products.

The three critical considerations are cost, packing time and the presentation of your product.

Before we talk about colour, design and material grade, we encourage you to start from the inside out, to literally think inside the box!

Starting with your product: how big is it and what shape is it?  A simple, methodical approach like this can save your business thousands of pounds in wasted storage and freight costs.

Having a colourful, eye-catching design is all very well but you need to consider whether the carton is easy to assemble and whether your precious cargo is sufficiently protected.

Whilst it is important to protect your cargo, voidfiller is quite literally a waste of space. Simply put, every square metre of void-fill you use reduces the amount of freight storage available to you, and loss of space means a reduction in the revenue you receive.

Voidfiller should really be renamed landfiller because, due to its structure, it is currently being poured into landfills and suffocating our oceans, it is our aim to eradicate the need for voidfill altogether.

First impressions last. Craft a carton which represents and broadcasts your message beyond the initial encounter. With many domestic consumers, packaging is held onto long after the initial receipt of the goods.

Take the humble lightbulb as an example: since time immemorial packaging for lightbulbs has been a basic cuboid shape. But think about the waste of space, as well as the lack of creativity in the design, and it quickly becomes obvious that a T-Shaped carton would be more space-efficient and could dramatically increase the number of units being shipped, thereby reducing weight, postage and shipping costs.

With over 600 different styles of carton available it is possible to reduce the cost of the carton by using a style which uses a smaller blanking template and therefore reduce your overall cost.

Here at Maxpack we understand how, in a fragile economy, every penny and cubic metre matters, so we want to work with you to design and build the most cost-efficient carton which best protects your product whilst reducing loss of space and revenue.

We work closely with you to analyse your entire packaging procedure so that your output is maximised.  For instance, our crash lock base cartons with self-seal strip easily flick into shape and are three times faster to pack than a traditional 0201 style corrugated box.

With access to board grades manufactured with market leading lightweight papers, our range of ‘next generation’ grades can deliver performance packaging with a cost advantage.

With any product or service branding is critical to the message.  Having a square box with your logo on won’t necessarily cut the mustard these days and so this is why a distinctive shape, colour or style will set you apart from the competition.

First impressions last. Craft a carton which represents and broadcasts your message beyond the initial encounter. With many domestic consumers, packaging is held onto long after the initial receipt of the goods.

For this reason it is worth considering the long term reach of your product. We will work with you to create a carton which manages to balance practicality, efficiency and desirability. Distinctive packaging which, when printed, maximises your marketing potential, promoting your brand and your company.
